Recognising Independent Digital News Outlets

Recognition by INCoV is a voluntary, non-regulatory acknowledgment that a digital news platform meets baseline criteria relating to originality, consistency and independence.

It is intended to provide clarity — not control — and to help distinguish original reporting from reposting or aggregation.

Recognition also supports improved brand visibility by associating outlets with a formal, incorporated council.

Wyndham TV is the leading independent media
outlet dedicated to covering the stories, people, and
events shaping life in the City of Wyndham.

Who Can Apply

Independent digital news platforms may apply if they:

  • Have been operating for a minimum of three months

  • Produce original news content

  • Publish content that includes video and/or still images acquired directly by the outlet

  • Operate independently of major corporate media organisations

  • Are publicly accessible and identifiable

There is no requirement relating to audience size, political position or editorial viewpoint.

What “Recognised by INCoV” Means

  • Produces its own news content

  • Operates independently

  • Has demonstrated ongoing activity over time

What Recognition Does Not Mean

  • Endorse editorial views or opinions

  • Approve individual stories

  • Confer regulatory or legal status

  • Prevent criticism or scrutiny

Recognised outlets receive:

  • Inclusion on the INCoV public register

    • A short description

    • A direct link to the outlet’s digital platform

Council Communications

INCoV publishes a quarterly newsletter providing updates on recognised outlets, sector-wide information, and Council notices and developments.

Annual Recognition

INCoV presents a yearly award recognising an outstanding year of independent reporting by a recognised outlet.

The award acknowledges sustained contribution and effort and does not assess or rank editorial viewpoints.
